The beach alive festival is designed for all residents to embrace the wet season and enjoy their local community while raising money for charity. That’s right, any money raised is donated back into the community by the Rotary Club of Darwin.
It was held 2nd November 2024 where the beach and club once again came alive with a variety of beach sports, live entertainment, cultural performances, food stalls, a giant water slide, carnival games and more. Activities designed for the whole family.
See the Gallery below: Once again in its 5th year the Rotary Club of Darwin and Darwin Surf Life Saving Club’s community festival; Bali Vibe is being held at the beautiful Casuarina Beach precinct. The 2023 event saw approximately 1200 people enjoy the festival and in 2024, we looked like doubling that. We had activities ranging from water slides, various sports on the beach and side show alley attractions for the kids through to the Bailamos Latin dance troupe and Pumper Jumper performances.
The beach immediate to the front of the Darwin Surf Life Saving Club precinct was activated with the NT Touch Football competition and Darwin Indoor Volleyball courts. The beach was also populated by many children playing impromptu games of soccer and other beach activities.
The festival was ably supported by Kevin the Mobile DJ , DLSC Bar precinct, Del la Plage Cafe and additional food stores including the Litchfield/Palmerston Rotary Club Hamburger Stand. Further, the Bali Bamboo Beach Bar run by Rotary Club of Darwin directly contributes to the fundraising success of the day whilst the Rotary Club of Darwin Men’s Health and Wellbeing gazebo was one of the important contributors.
The event, however, could not have successful without the tireless efforts of the Darwin Surf Life Saving team that actively support the event’s goal of providing a family friendly community event in the wet season that raises money for charity organisations such as Riding for the Disabled.
Unfortunately, the 2024 event was beset by a late thunderstorm that dampened the spirits of the many attendees. Numbers were slowly building and it look set to be our best event yet. The rain, however, put paid to that and many of the attendees packed up and left while those on their way, turned away instead. Still, despite this and despite running at a slight loss, it was still an outstanding event and we kept it running for a couple of hours after the rain before closing up early.
This year’s event again aimed to raise funds for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and to support the Pumper Jumpers. Whilst the event was not able to run at a profit this year, the Rotary Club of Darwin will continue to support both these worthy groups and it is hoped that the event will be bigger and better for all families to enjoy.
Overall. the festival continues to grow and provide an opportunity for all to celebrate the approaching wet season and enjoy some of the pleasures of living in the tropical north. This includes delicious food offerings and a cocktail while overlooking the pristine beaches of the Northern Territory.
In 2025, the Rotary Club of Darwin and Darwin Surf Life Saving Club intend holding the event a month earlier in the year so that we don’t find ourselves again in ‘hot water’ so as to speak. So, schedule yourself and your family and friends to come to Bali Vibe 2025 and have a relaxing time in a family friendly environment.
